The German TV station Bayern (BR) premiered a 30-minutes documentary about the research of Marta Manser, Professor at the University of Zurich and co-leader of the Kalahari Meerkat Project, on Sunday June 15th.
The documentary by German TV journalist Christian Herrmann puts a focus on the vocalisations of meerkats - the "language of meerkats". Filmed at the Kalahari Meerkat Project in early 2008, it gives a detailled background view about Marta Manser's research and methods. The documentary follows Marta and the students Beke Graw and David Jansen to the field, where they investigate the vocalisation patterns and behaviour of the Drie Doring, Lazuli, Aztecs and Commandos groups.
German TV journalist Christian Herrmann, has directed and produced more than hundred documentaries on wildlife and nature, but also on social and charitable issues (the famous "Sternstunden" series). He is the president of Help for Kids, a charitable society helping many of the children he filmed.
