The October Life History files have been uploaded.

Here are the most important events:

  • Three pups emerged of Swift’s litter, two of which are still around: Bones (VWF212) and Pixie (VWM211), bringing them to 11 individuals. Subordinate Buddleia is missing though.
  • Unfortunately, Baobab dominant female Amarula succumbed to TB. She had been dominant at Baobab since 2013. Her eldest daughter Flossie (VBBF107) is now dominant.

2017 September LH Table

The September Life History files have been uploaded.

Here are the most important events:

  • The breeding season starts early this year, due to good rains: Amarula’s five pups at Baobab (only two of which survived) and AJB’s 4 pups at Hakuna Matata – and more to come from Swift’s litter at Whiskers who haven’t emerged yet.
  • Another new wild group is being habituated, the (Little) Creatures (CR), with 7 individuals. They live in the center of the reserve and were found with camera traps near their burrow.

2017 July LH Table

The July Life History files have been uploaded.

July has been a very quiet month, LH-wise:

  • Ex Pandora male Cheesy Toast (VVHM092) joined his siblings at Paprika (formerly called Van Helsing 4).
  • 3 females are pregnant, but there were no births in July – fairly usual during the cold dry season.
